MoJo
It's been a week since MoJo's surgery, and he's doing really well. Almost too well, actually. I had to put the kennel in the closet because he had started jumping up on it when we left him out in the room. And we had to get him a nifty blue lampshade to wear, so that he wouldn't lick his stitches. He's getting used to it, but obviously would rather be without it, I'm sure. He has also been a pain about taking his meds since after the first night. He's only got the antibiotic left, but it's a sticky orange liquid, and he keeps making it so that it spills all down his neck. He gets his stitches out next Tuesday, and then he won't have to wear the collar anymore. He's walking really well, even on his broken leg. I think he'll be back to normal in no time!!

Last minute surprise
My boss offered me tickets for last night's game at 3 p.m. yesterday. I got on the phone to Jim and he headed down. We had dinner at Brooklyn's and then sat Club Level for the game. I've now sat in all 3 levels this season, and have determined that there is simply no bad seat from which to watch an Avs game! Brad and his wife, Sarah, also came. I work with Brad, and he'd never been to an Avs game before. I was glad they won for a change!

Upgrade!!
Jim's mom was very kind to lend me a larger kennel for MoJo to stay in. He seems very happy in his new digs, and purred himself to sleep. The kennel came complete with dishes that hook to the door for his food and water. A much needed accessory!! Still haven't figured out a real good potty solution, but he's been out once to go in his litter box. We did 3 medicines tonight, and they all went well. YAY!!! We're on our way... Thanks, Linda!!!
Long recovery ahead...

On Tuesday night, the 6th of February, one of my kitties was involved in an accident resulting in the fracture of his femur. It was a pretty ugly/sad x-ray, and our Vet, Dr. Dosch, in Evans sent us to the VCA Veterinary Specialists of Northern Colorado in Loveland (www.vcavsnc.com). There, we met with Dr. Wight who explained that MoJo would need to have surgery to put his bones back together. Dr. Fitch would place a rod and plate inside Mojo's thigh to give the bone direction to heal. I wish I had electronic pictures of the x-rays to show, but I just have paper copies of most of them, and no operable scanner...
Anyway. MoJo stayed in Loveland Tuesday and Wednesday night. His surgery was late morning on Wednesday, and he was on an IV of continuous fluids and pain meds the whole time he was there, so I imagine he was feelin' pretty good! As good as he could, of course... Everyone kept telling me what a pretty kitty he was and that the surgery went really well. The discharge nurse even told me that had I not come back to pick him up (as if!!) that she was ready to take him home.
Alas! He's home now, and set up in my spare back bedroom. Unfortunately, he's just a tad on the skittish and restless side, due to the meds I'm told, so he will have to spend a good majority of his first 2 or 3 weeks in his cat carrier, so as not to move too much and irritate the healing process. I haven't exactly figured out how we're gonna work his bathroom situation just yet, but I guess we'll figure that out later. All that matters is that he's home and recovery has started. Hopefully in 12 weeks (or less???) he'll be back to his new normal. Right now, he's resting peacefully in the sun.
