July happenings

While I would have loved to visit Costa Rica as my mom, sister and I had been planning since around February, it's probably for the best that things didn't work out like we thought they were going to. At least now I have my passport updated and can save for another out-of-country trip! And I got to spend some quality time with my sister and nieces during the days I would have been away. They always come up for a week or so during the summer to hang out at the pool and a little with me...but I am usually working during the day and only get to see them when I come home. This time I actually got to go to the pool and do some other things with them, and both my parents joined us for the weekend after my mom returned from a Kindergarten conference in Vegas. I had a great time with everyone and loved having them around!

Vintage Aero Flying Museum - July 19th

Anyone who knows my dad knows that he LOVES anything having to do with planes and flying. He looked up this museum online and thought it would be something fun to do. He was right! This was actually a really great museum out in the middle of nowhere, East of Ft. Lupton.

My Birthday -

Even though everyone had been up to visit the week before, my mom, Kristi and Sylvia made the drive back North to hang out with me the weekend of my birthday. We rearranged my house to make for the best scrapbooking AND movie watching space. Shell was even able to stay for a few hours to watch P.S. I Love You and scrapbook with us, despite her cat allergies. And Saturday night we had dinner at the Olive Garden. A really great weekend!!

Cutting hair -


Jim needed a hair cut and instead of going somewhere to have it done decided that it was time to buy himself some clippers. He spent quite a bit of time on it before going out to dinner with us on my birthday, but asked if I would help clean it up a bit. Having never cut a man's hair before, I was a little nervous. I soon learned, however, that there's not much you can mess up if he wants it all the same length! He still made it even shorter himself the next day, but I think I did an ok job.

Demolition Derby

The Greeley Stampede lasted 2 days longer than usual this year. They saved the Demolition Derby to close out the season Sunday afternoon. I hadn't been to one since the summer of '98 so when Jim suggested we go, I was all for it. There was an hour delay due to a storm that rolled through right before it was supposed to start, but then the muddy fun began!

Happy 4th of July!

After sleeping in and watching License to Wed, I headed over to Linda's to spend time with my Greeley family. Shell and Rich had brought their Wii and all the dogs were present. We had fun playing 4-person tennis; John and I actually beat Rich and Katie once!! We also got in some bowling and golfing before heading home for naps!! Shell and Rich...awwww...

Tennis

I am far better at Wii Tennis than I EVER have been at the real thing. AND I get a decent workout playing the game. Katie, however, gets an even better workout. Rich just tries to stay out the way of flailing limbs! See my video blog for the action shots...
