Update

Shell's surgery went well!! The cancer was completely contained in the uterus and thus was removed during the procedure. She is in a lot of pain still, but home and doing fairly well otherwise. Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers, they are very appreciated. Please keep praying for a less painful and quick recovery.

Shell received great news at the end of May that she was cancer-free after just a month and a half or so on medication. However, at the end of her treatment and after her second D&C on July 16th they received devastating news; the cancer has returned. For the past 3-1/2 weeks she has been preparing for a hysterectomy which will happen tomorrow. She has been through the gamut of emotions: sad, scared, anxious, hopeful. You name it, she's felt it, and often all at once.

I'm hoping to make it to Swedish Medical before she goes in to surgery at noon tomorrow. I will definitely be there when she wakes up. Please pray with me, Shell, and her entire family that everything will go smoothly and as planned and that the cancer has not spread. Pray that she'll have a quick recovery with as little pain as possible. Pray that she and Rich will find peace and faith even though they will be giving up their dream of having a biological child.

Surprisingly hooked!

I usually don't pay much attention to the Olympics outside of Figure Skating during the Winter games. I decided that I'd check out Gymnastics this year and have found myself on the edge of my seat for swimming and volleyball as well, and looking forward to competitions to come. My Tivo will be working OT for the next 2 weeks!

Sadly, Randy passed away on July 25th. He touched millions with his story and I'm sure will be greatly missed by those closest to him. Here is an article from CMU.
